Our favorite time on the campgrounds is autumn when a brisk chill hangs in the air, aspens turn to gold almost overnight and chipmunks, so fat they almost waddle, try to stuff one more seed into already bulging cheeks. We first vacationed on the YMCA campgrounds in 1974. The campgrounds: where squirrels scamper across our cabin roof, chipmunks beg on the porch (but we no longer feed them) and humming birds stake out their territory at the feeder. We love coming to the YMCA campgrounds where we find beauty in the magnificent and the insignificant, the awesome and the ordinary.
