It means long family tradition, making new friends and making lasting memories. It means learning what all my great aunt helped do for the YMCA of the Rockies, with Walter Ruesch. Listening to the stories of my mom and her best friend when her family would come to stay at the YMCA for 5 weeks at a time when her aunt worked at the YMCA. It means my mom coming back to the YMCA with her husband and my sister and me, which allowed us to make memories at the Y. I kissed my first boy at the Y and climbed Eagle Cliff in moccasins’ to be with that boy when I was in Teen barn in the summer of 1984. It about my sister and I meeting a friend from Illinois in the summer of 1985, and we are still in touch with her and now and her family. It is about my mom, my sister and my family, my husband, my two girls and me coming to the Y to meet up with my friend from Illinois and her family so her kids and mine can make memories now too. It is meeting up with the past owners of the stables in town and see how they are doing. It is meeting up again this year with a counselor that I had in teen barn so many years ago. The Y has such a very very special place in my heart.
